It’s been over 18 years of good vibes for the husband and wife team at D Hot Shoppe. Simone came to Canada shortly after her husband Gabriel in 2004.

 

In less than a year they had moved to Burlington and opened up their restaurant on Fairview Street between Appleby and Walkers. Since then D Hot Shoppe has been voted Burlington’s Best Roti shop for over a decade, with many other items on the menu, it’s all about the island vibe and the authentic West Indian cuisine.

 

Simone and Gabriel are from Trinidad and Tobago, a country known for roti. Gabriel was taught to cook by Nanny, who was like a grandmother to him growing up. Gabriel brought with him his grandmother’s recipes including the secret roti sauce.
